Today, Pearl River is the largest piano maker in the world and their instruments are built in Guangzhou, China. Pearl River are very good at creating trade alliances, and have made pianos specifically for Yamaha (who invested a lot to improve the quality of the Pearl River Piano) and Steinway, where the Essex Piano is manufactured. In 2016 they took over a 90% holding of the Wilhelm Schimmel Piano, and moved the production of the Ritmuller Piano to that factory.
